I own two wooden instruments. One is a guitar, given to me by the inventor of the World Wide Web. The other is an Appalachian dulcimer that I designed and built myself.

To build the dulcimer, I started with various slabs of wood. The first step was to cut the wood into appropriate shapes, bending and joining the pieces to form the body.

I then carved in slots for the frets, hammered in fret wire, and carved in holes for the tuners and strings.

After putting it all together, I completed a traditional Appalachian dulcimer!
